iPhone Test

Yes I officially have an iPhone...
But the catch is.. well its a Verizon phone..
And as a  Sprint Customer..
Yeah I think you get the jist of the situation.
However, it works just great on wifi,
and playing with it the last few days has convinced me
to start hoarding my cash like a chipmunk in June...
Yeah I just said that.
:-))

and upgrade to the iPhone when my contract ends..

I LOOOVE it.

There's an App for that!

So I've been dying to do a post like this for a long time, especially since I know several of my bloggy friends just acquired the awesome, the lovely, the spectacular Android Phone. I'm almost at one year of Android, and don't know how I'd function without my handheld brain. literally. I did it for...two weeks, and it was torture!!

So today I'd thought I'd review some of the apps I use! Most of these apps can be found in your Android Marketplace. Also some may be compatible with iPhones or Blackberries. See Carrier for more information. Disclaimer: These are not paid endorsements, and I could find better apps tomorrow. Who knows.

5 Star Apps

Advanced Task Killer Free

You'd be surprised at the amount of programs that run in the background, while your phone is on. When I first got my HERO I was not happy having to charge my almost dead phone halfway through my day. This program allows you to set it so it can cut off running programs, thus giving you more battery life.

Alarm Clock Plus

I just downloaded this app yesterday, and I already know its going to be awesome! The alarm that came with my phone quit working, and so last night I knew I needed a reliable alarm, and came across this one. You can have it go through your music playlist, or ringtones...but the here's the best part I like about it: You can set it to make you do Math in order to Dismiss it. Believe me I had to get out of bed, get my calculator and figure out the problems before getting the stupid thing off. It was horrible. But it worked.
Bank of America
I love being able to transfer money and check my accounts, right from my phone!

My CookBook
I've downloaded several recipe apps, and this is the only one I like, because it allows you to browse cooking websites and share the page with the recipe you like, to your phone. It then copies the recipe to your database.

NewsRob
The best app for Google Reader users. I've tried several other apps, and they either, didn't work as they said they would, or would use my battery running the background.
Pandora
Pandora on your Phone! What more can I say? Only downfalls is that
Lightning Bug
I can't sleep in the quiet, this app is perfect for white noise, everything from household noises (washing machine, refrigorator, fans..) to city noises, beach noises...etc. I use it nightly.

Handcent SMS
I hate HTC's text message feature as it doesn't allow you to do much customizing, this app allows me to set custom message alert,s

Touiteur
Best Twitter app thus far, I like how you can change the colors of the interface, and how it stores "hash tags" and has a button to call up users if you want to reply to something.

Mabilo Ringtones - Love this app, but you can no longer get it in Androids Market, however it is downloadable from their website. Mabilo.com

4 Starred Apps
ClickerTrainer Dual
All you dog trainers out there! Its got two clickers in which you can assign two different sounds, thus enabling you to train two dogs together!

Tweet Caster
Good App, i use it for my other twitter accounts

CadreBible

I like this app ok, its a lot more user friendly the AcroBible. I just have a hard time doing long amounts of reading off of a screen.

CloudList
I uninstalled Astrid To/Do list for this app and regretted it. No reminders, not alerts, no nothing. So now I just use it for my grocery lists.

Dictionary.com
Great for in-class writings! Ha! I had to use this during our class the other day, to look up a synonym for a word I wanted to use, but felt I'd over used!

eBuddy

If you are like me and have multi IM-Clients this is the app for you! you can log on from Yahoo, AOL, MSN and even Facebook Chat all at the same time. However it is a huge battery drainer!

3 Starred Apps
  • Mobile Metronome - For you music fans!!
  • YellowPages - It does what it says!
  • Foursquare - Yeah its just an app for FourSquared! Nothing more nothing less.
2 Star apps
  • TuneIn Radio - Only works some of the time, doesn't get all the stations it claims to get
  • WordFued - Scrabble on your phone, would be a great app if you could play it with the computer, but alas this app requires another human, whether a friend of yours, or some random person it finds online. I'm sorry but that just creeps me out.
  • Sleep Bot Tracker Log - Keeps track of the hours you sleep at night. You press the button to start tracking before your go to sleep, and stop it in the morning.
  • GDocs - Syncs with Google Docs, though is better suited for reading pre-written documents than writing new ones. I use it frequently due to keeping a lot of information on my Google Docs account, and this way I can at least read the info if need be.
Games
 Jewellust
First app I've bought all year! A super additing game. If you like BeJeweled you'll like this game. Which is funny cause I thought BeJeweled was a dumb game.

Frozen Bubble
Another mindless game, trying to clear the screen of ice bubbles before time runs out.
Replica Island
Nagivgate through mazes with your little android guy. Fun stuff.

WordUp - Boggle on your Phone!

The Moron Test
OMG the HARDEST game ever! My friends (who both copied me and ran out and got Heros') bought this game on theif phones, and it frustrates me to no end! Truthfully its super easy, if you are paying attention to the wording! Which means I'm playing it for hours on end!!

Tetronimo
Tetris for Free!

Downloading.....
Bloggeroid  - We'll see!?

We Reward -Supposedly you can check in at different restaurants around your city and earn money through the points you collect there....we'll see!

WordPress -another haven't tried but we'll see!!

Oh and to top it off, I think my phone is officially its own hotspot!
So Now comes the question:
What do you have on your phone!?

48 Hours and Counting...

Believe it or not, I am still alive, a bit disoriented, with no clue about the time or date, but alive.  I also forgot to mention, in my previous panicked post, that I stuck said phone in rice immediately after bringing it inside, having learned my lesson from last time, and its been there ever since.  I'm hoping and praying (yes praying) that it will work if I let it dry throughly this time.

The last time it was two days before we were able to purchase some rice, so I think  hope that played a big part in its demise. It will be in there until...Thursday. If I can wait that long....

However, I have barely made it 48 hours. Yesterday wasn't bad cause I was at/around home/friends/family all day, so there was no need. My computers were with in reach, and Google Voice could be accessed if I need to make any calls.
Wait you haven't heard about Google Voice? OMW where do you guys live under rocks?!
Today on the other hand, was a little more nerve wracking. Last night I did break down and power up phone #1, so I could at least use the alarm/Lightning Bug app. And then today I tucked its sleek familiar shape into my purse, so I could at least tell time. Once at work, though I began to realize it was a little strange, not to have email notifications, or facebook text, or texts period to get me through the work day. *..i mean..*

Then on my way out to campus, I was reaching for my phone, to ask someone something, and with a sinking feeling realized, I was out in the big, bad, world, without any connection to my peoples. No GPS, no facebook, no PHONE, no email, I mean if I got lost...no.one would look for me, for HOURS. *gulp*

It hit me again, as I was skipping out of the Financial Aid office, after a trying ordeal getting my account straightened out (again). They hate me I'm positive of it, though the lady was very nice and helpful and didn't just blow me off.
I could let know one know about my success, for about 35 minutes. Seriously!? I know this may not seem like a long time to some of you, but ok the girl has ADD believe me when I say, it was about 30 minutes after I got home, that I remembered what I was going to walk up the hill and tell my mother. #sad

Anyway, all this was to say, I survived.
It was painful, but I did it.
I am going through withdrawls though I keep thinking I hear this sound from a distant room.

A letter sound bite

{The sound that let me know I just received a new email} or the little "plings" every couple of minutes, letting me know another twitter update had come through....

I MISS MY PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9.11.2010

Seriously?!?!

R.I.P
HTC HERO #2
July 2010 - September 2010

{via HTC}
I hate myself.
Oh you want to know what happened?
It was quite simple really, leave your touch screen $200 phone in the rain, its probably not going to work either.
stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.
Did I mention stupid?
NOW WHAT!?
Buy a THIRD Hero???
I love my android phones, I can't downgrade to anything less, and I can't upgrade without taking out a loan! ($500 for HTC Evo)
What am I going to do without my phone AGAIN!??
*sobs*

I love you Sprint - Random Conversations

So my new phone arrived today, after waiting for it for hours, literally sitting outside in my yard, waiting for the FedEx man to arrive. When it finally was delivered I spent 30 minutes trying activate it only, first by their instructions, then manually.

Everything was great, I made a call, received a call life was good. I could touch my screen and it worked! Granted now I'm scared I'll mess it up by touching it... but that is beside the point. All of the sudden I'm starting get these "Error Code 67" messages every few seconds. And I discover, true to the little messages word, I have no data! You have GOT to be kidding me.

Of course the first thing I do is Google it.  One site: TRY this and this and this and dog this, and punch that. I do that. Nothing. Ok Google some more, register for Forums so I can see the whole answer to the question. I hate that. Still nothing.

I decide to wait and see if it will fix itself, load the dogs, and my youngest sister in the car, and head out for the worst dog park experience to date. All three "kids" decided to act really ugly today. I've never been more embarrassed. Anyway so, still no data connection and I'm coming to the sad realization that I will actually have to call Sprint. I don't like on the phone, its weird, unless its someone I know really well..like my parents, or my siblings...I even have a hard time talking to my friends on the phone. So you can understand how the prospect of spending lots of time, with a complete stranger in Who-Knows-where,  made me feel.

So I'm on the phone with the Sprint Rep, its quietly awkward as we reboot the phone 15,000,000 times. 20-30 minutes pass with no communication but what's necessary. Then all of the sudden, she starts chatting like we're best friends.....!??!?!

  • She never talks on the phone outside of work, and she has her voice mail sent to her boyfriends phone
  • She never returns calls
  • She doesn't text
  • The one time she did return someone's call, they thought someone was dying.
  • Her co-worker is on WifeSwap
  • The longest phone call she's been on is 2 hours

*insert blank uninterested but have no where else to go look*

I feel I'm a very friendly and outgoing person, and I had tried to spark some conversation earlier, but she didn't seem like she really cared to talk to the person on the other end.

No Problem.. I mean, I don't know you, you don't know me, we barely remember the others name...despite sitting on the phone with each other for the last 30 minutes....

.....oh never mind, I just realized she was sitting  WATCHING WifeSwap while I was on the phone with her. Good to know I'm a priority.

But whatever the reason, eventually my phone was fixed, I'm happy, she's off the phone. Life is Good again.

Two For Tuesday

For each of the following 10 categories, tell us which brand/product you use and why.

1. Cell Phone
Sprint HTC Hero all they way baby... regular readers know I've had many cell phone problems lately...my fault. But here's a note: ALL WAYS PURCHASE CELL PHONE INSURANCE.

2. Email
I used to be a e-mail addict, what can I say I was bored and had nothing to do so I created like 5 different email accounts, from Yahoo.com to Gigway.com. I finally found Gmail and haven't left since...though I still have two Yahoo accounts, and a second gmail account. But then again I have a love affair with all things Google now.

3. Toothpaste
I never pay attention to toothpaste brands. I think the Dollar Tree only sales Colgate, so that's what I buy.

4. Car
Right now I'm driving my DAD's Toyota Corrolla. Dying for a newer, bigger vehicle. I'd really like on of the new Chevrolet Suburbans..but that's waaay out of my price range.

5. Writing Utensil
I actually only like mechanical pencils, I don't like my writing using pens.

6. Lotion
Udderly Smooth. St. Ives, Johnson's Baby Lotion. <3 <3 <3 There are so many lotions that actually dry out my skin, and these have been the only ones that last any amount of time. Thus I keep them in business.

7. Interior Paint -
WHA?!?!

8. Soda/Drink
Soda!  Dr.Pepper is my current addiction, with Mountain Dew coming in at a close second.  I got into the caffeine habit during my freshman year of college, my dad is convinced all my "memory problems" are the cause of it..and I can't say that I don't believe him.

9. Laundry Detergent
I buy what's on sale.

10. Medicine
Don't get sick much, but during  Aunt Flo's visit I'll sometimes take Bayer's Crystals.

A New Phone

I don't know exactly how to put into words my feelings.
I have been informed, that I must cut off my right hand.
Yep.
My Phone is officially dead.
Ok so that was a bit melodramatic
Nothing Sprint or HTC will do.
"Buy a new phone."
Was the words the "kind" Sprint Rep told me.
And then she had the NERVE to ask me, did she help solve my problem.
I'll admit to being very sarcastic when I say..."yesss".
She got it, but there wasn't anything she could do about it.
But seriously.
You would think I'd learn that I NEED to get insurance on my phones already.
This is what...the fourth time this has happened too me?
Do I EVER learn?
Don't answer that.
Ebay...Craigslist?
Here I come.

Wordy Wednesday

{Zipper snoozing on top of my mouse pad, on my desk}
I am not a morning person, I do not like mornings, early or late, in fact if we could just skip mornings permanently I would probably be a very pleasant person, right out of bed.
This is not to say that I'm not a pleasant person in the morning, but that's because I'm not talking to you and you're not talking to me. Believe me, dear roommate is cheerfully wishing me good morning, while I steadfastly ignore her very existence.
How ever my family does not help contribute to the well being of my  morning state, by banging on the door at 8AM,demanding I get my camera, to take the photo of a DEAD RABBIT THE KILLED. I opened my curtains to see what he was yelling about, and immediately got back in bed. Seriously? How rude is it too wake up and see a dead rabbit hanging outside your window?

I got another hour or two of sleep in before, Zipper's high pitched squeals made that impossible. Speaking of Zipper, I have since come to the realization, the I cannot handle high energy dogs. And I actually think its more of, I can't handle them if they come too me like that..if I get them as puppies i Have more time to get used to the quirks of their nature, where starting out like that is very stressful.

So having this dog back in my house again, has caused some tensions between me and...her... Its very easy to get frustrated with her..which makes training her all the harder. Especially since she's not a dog to look before she'll leap. Her favorite thing, is for me too put her on leash, walk outside and watch her run FULL TILT to the end of the leash, and get flipped on her back.

I've given up being worried about her physical state as she'll get up, shake herself off. And DO IT AGAIN.  I hope her future family can get their money together quickly and complete this adoption already!

In other news, I am once again wondering if I am the only person in the world, that can get themselves into debt without spending any money. Now that my school has been paid for, the IRS pops up with a letter saying I owe them money....and then my secondary bank messages me, that I have overdrawn the account and being charged .. oh $40 on top of the money I over drafted. Which is about $100 total.  Total Debt Amount = $300. I know, I know, I KNOW.
Its not that much, but have ya SEEN my bank account lately?!?

Thank goodness I started budgeting to have extra money!

I think I can officially say also, that my lovely HTC Hero with Google, is officially back to working order.....15 minutes later...*snap* I just jinxed myself of course, and my phone is back too its new platonic, unresponsive state... Heres to hoping Sprint will be kind too me...or that I still have some sort of warranty on my phone. Life without a cell phone is stressful.

.....And I'm Out

March 3

Today's' random photos come from Photography class! :) I really should have taken a photo of the "NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN CLASSROOM" sign, along with my soda bottle. The real question here is: Why have vending machines in the building if we can't even drink in the class rooms!??!

Not that anyone obeys those signs.

Speaking of vending machines...

I was very sad to see there was no Cherry Dr. Pepper  in the vending machines today. So I had to settle for Cherry Coke. A VERY.POOR. substitute.

Today really wasn't all that great of a day, but I'm trying to keep this post as lighthearted as possible, for myself. It would be very easy for me to pour my guts about this highly...emotionally straining day; but in this case I would just be feeling sorry for myself, and just sinking deeper into that pit of ....despair?

So I'm just going to look at the good...
  • I got to school & work on time
  • Pompei was an angel at school
  • Wore one of my new scarves
  • Had a nice little juant around UT's campus, and didn't have to drive one of the departments cars to get to where I was going!! (I HATE DRIVING THOSE VEHICLES!!)
  • I think I'll be able to rearrange my schedule so its more dog/family/me friendly..
  • I may officially be broke until Tuesday, but my cell phone bill is paid!
  • SPRING BREAK IS IN 3 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!And all the teach's go Yay a week for you to do (1 Essay, 200 photos,<-Yes that is for real, 2 Chapters, 1 quiz guide, 1 reaction paper...what else am I forgetting?)

Snow Day

Truthfully there was only one point where I saw actual snow flakes coming from the sky, but for the most part the sky threw down hard pellets of ice, that morphed into snow once it hit the ground.
Thankfully our side of town, didn't see the 8-10 inches our beloved weather peeps predicted. No power outages, but neither were we traveling the town.
So the dogs and I played in the snow, than cleaned the house, did home work, read a book, played in the snow some more....my house is so quiet with out my bouncy golden girl. I sent her to her new home on Thursday, and the house just hasn't been the same since. She was a full fledged "teenager" and really was a lot of work, on top of school..but I'm actually missing the work she was. Truthfully this week has been one big disappointment after another. But I'm working to turn these lemons into lemonade. Who knows what next week will bring.
So I used those lemons and bought.... :)
My family has been complaining about my coat selection, I have two wool double breasted coats, that have been...shall we say, well loved. Or at least they look as if they do. Once these coats get lint on them its almost impossible to get it out of them! Unless there is some special tip that I haven't found just yet. (Lint rollers do not work) So I dropped by JC Penny's Thursday before work, and found this super cute coat for $30 and I came across this cute pink and black polk-a-dot  slippers as well.

..ok and I also bought a new scarf, another purse, two new cell phone covers...a book..or 5....and probably purchases another camera tomorrow. (HeY! ITs a GrEaT deal!)

Its called Therapy.

And also another reason marriage is not in my immediate future.

Share my money!?? Yeah Right!

LOL.

She Who walks softly and carries a Big Purse

**WARNING, EXTREME RANDOMNESS AHEAD**

***November 3, 2009****
November.
In less that 2 months, 2009 will be history.
I still don't know when life sped up and left me behind!
This month I had some plans to make some big purchases...(no not a car, though that is still  in the works) but defiantly a laptop, and  put a huge chunk in savings...
Welllllllll.......As it turns out...my cell phone contract ends on Saturday; and for reasons I cannot state here, I need to get a Data plan..(well I want it too, but it IS a need); As I'm sure all of you know, its not a just a simple, oh lets get another plan.

Nope.

There's a new phone, a new carrier, a canceling of services, a waiting to make sure you don't get early termination fees.......and all this costs MONEY. It probably could possibly cost a lesser amount of money..but that's only if I relinquish the death grip I have on the HTC Hero.

In other words...bye-bye laptop.

My body is still adjusting to the ending of daylight savings time. I've actually enjoyed getting up in the mornings, and have felt very relaxed as I've dashed out to the car and rush to work, cause I woke up too late.

Adjusting my foot. psht.

 *****Friday, November 6, 2009 *******
I am at work changing the locker room, when I realize just how much stuff my bag holds; its rediculos, I had an external harddrive, notebook, planner, 3 books, keys...odds and ends..etc..etc..

I figured if anyone were to attack me (say in the parking garage of the police station) I could at least hold them off with a couple hits from my bag. But I think I'd probably be too concerned about breaking my hard drive.....hmmm..I'll have to rethink this strategy.

Anyway; the weekend is here. For once I am glad. This has been a tough week for me emotionally; I used to "pride" myself on being the most "de-stressed", but lately I've noticed things are starting to build up and I feel like I might just blow up from the pressure!!

Yesterday was the worst, but God was right there keeping a (REAL) smile on my face, and my attitude right.

Still trying to adjust today, and praying hard that next week will be better. I don't know how much more of this I can take.

Attempted to find a Sprint store this afternoon....I thought i was in the mall, and so stopped there. I guess it was perfume and cologne day, or maybe my brain was over reacting due to lack of food. I don't know, but the ENTIRE MALL REeKED of COLOGNE; my head was killing me by the time I escaped. It was horrible. And I didn't find the Sprint store. #sadness

School Registration starts next week, and if I can find some time I'll be headed up there to get my FA started, and set up some online classes; I'm ready to start school again, even though it was an EXTREMELY good thing I took off this semester.

Off to go send some emails.

YeaOwZers -- yeah couldn't think of a good title

This week has been busy and stressful all at the same time. With only two more weeks of school left, there is a lot of focus on finals, and final projects.....and throw on top of that the responsibilities of my new job position....and you will end up with this:

No its not pretty.

Lets start with Busy.........Monday my boss emailed me a "huge" list of things I needed to get accomplished by Thursday...including, meeting with families, and creating a system that allowed me to see all information at one time. At the same time, I realized I need to start working on my final project for my web class, as well as finish up the last two chapters in that book. Annnd start on Chapter 12 in my programming class.

So that evening my friend Rebekah went to the Mellow Mushroom to study...and talk, and mostly talk, and squeeze some studying in as well. I was able to read through Chapter 12 and complete that quiz, so it was a sucessful night.....But I still had so much to get done!!

But on a sweeter note, I ordered my new phone from eBay! SMT-5800

After I got lots of negative feedback about getting the Palm Treo, I decided, ok maybe I should look into something else.... and decided to give the SMT-58oo a go.
CNET.com, had nothing but good to say about it, so when I found it on eBay for only $60.00 w free shipping. I bought it.

And also purchased ANOTHER power cord for my laptop!!! **Kaching - Kaching**

Tuesday - I went shopping....the best thing for any stressful situation...lol. And then came home, and forced myself to focus on SOMETHING! I find when I get stressed my ADHD gets worse, and I can't get ANYTHING done.

Wednesday - Another shopping day, bought some more housing decor, and paint for my table.
Seller No.2 sent me tracking information about my power cord, but heard nothing from Seller No. 1.

Thursday - Another day of slaving at the computer, but went out later on that night to meet with one of our foster families, and do some 1:1 training with her, and her pup.
Once home, I began checking out Seller No. 1's ratings again, to see what was going on here..then I started noticing things, like he no longer had ANY items for sell. And that his emails didn't match Seller No. 2's ebay emails. Then 5 people posted negative reviews about just what I was starting to figure out. Nooooooooooooo..
{Random Photo of Veda sprawled out in the floor}
Friday - Met with another foster family 1:1, for about an hour, before Veda and I hit some shops.
Once home, found out Seller No.2 had recived about 10 more negative reviews....and decided to put a claim in with PayPal. So after much conferencing with my parents (also vetern ebayers); I decided to go ahead and look into another phone...........though I did send those emails to spoof@ebay.com...and they'll be looking into that situation.

Saturday - Today was a really productive day, all my web homework is done, as well as my programming homework. I'm really pleased that I won't have much to do tomorrow!!!!
In the meantime, I won another phone on ebay, and am expecting them to ship on Monday.
This seller much more reputable, and responded to my questions with in the hour...very pleased this time, although it was more than I intended to spend. *sigH*
But I am excited to get this phone, as its touch screen! Yeeehaw!! :D
We live and learn.
