Guilty Pleasures 1.0

I don't really suppose "guilty" would be a good word for this post, as I don't feel "guilty" about it, sometimes a bit silly about much I love these, but what can I say. Below are five of my favorite proposals to date; and yes my future husband has a LOT to live up to!

1. Brad and Emily get Engaged!

2. Jason Min's Proposal

3. Russell and Kelli

4. James and Francisca

5.Melody and Patrick

6. Timeline Proposal
(This was way to cute not to include!)

VEDA Day 7 // My Personality

Today's Question: What's your Myers-Briggs Personality Type? (Take the test if you don't know!) Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Do you believe in personality types? Has knowing your personality type helped you?

Test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

I love these type of things!

So I am an ISTJ - Introvert (44%), Sensing (38%), Thinking (12%), Judging (44%)

As I was telling my friend Rebekah about these things, she reminded me of the website she'd sent me earlier that gave a bunch of other fun facts regarding what those letters meant, and what were common personality traits among people of my letters. :)

The following is more for my benefit that yours so feel free to skip it! :)
Here are a few of the things I found amusing as I browsed the web last night.

  • In the name of responsibility, these Introverts have acquired social grace, ease with words, and all of the appropriate interpersonal social skills demanded at any given moment. They can be so outgoing under clearly defined circumstances that they are sometimes mistaken for Extraverts. But make no mistake: as the most private of the sixteen types, these Introverts can don Extraverted clothing when the occasion warrants it without changing their essentially Introverted inner nature.
  • While all Thinking females swim upstream in our society, this is particularly true for female ISTJs. The responsible, driven nature of this type, while admirable, flies in the face of traditionally "feminine" traits. Moreover, as traditionalists at hearts, ISTJ females are inwardly conflicted about trying to balance the conventional feminine roles -- mothering and nurturing -- with their objective, organized (TJ) nature. Male ISTJs, in contrast, are "naturals" in comforming with this type's attributes, so much so that ISTJ is often dubbed "the macho type" -- a label with which few women would feel comfortable (but which doesn't necessarily bother those ISTJ women.)  This makes me laugh
  • The ISTJ is not naturally in tune with their own feelings and the feelings of others. They may have difficulty picking up on emotional needs immediately, as they are presented. Being perfectionists themselves, they have a tendency to take other people's efforts for granted, like they take their own efforts for granted. They need to remember to pat people on the back once in a while. (yeaah)
  • ISTJs are likely to be uncomfortable expressing affection and emotion to others. However, their strong sense of duty and the ability to see what needs to be done in any situation usually allows them to overcome their natural reservations, and they are usually quite supporting and caring individuals with the people that they love. Once the ISTJ realizes the emotional needs of those who are close to them, they put forth effort to meet those needs.
  • They care deeply about those close to them, although they usually are not comfortable with expressing their love. The ISTJ is likely to express their affection through actions, rather than through words.
  • But ISTJs do care -- and show it through their strong sense of responsibility. (Indeed, they would rather die than than be seen as irresponsible.) (Preach. Where's my shoe?)
  • ISTJs have homes that are neat and they carry out their domestic activities with efficiency and dispatch. They like to eat breakfast at eight, lunch at noon, and dinner at six, no matter what. Holidays and other family affairs are extremely important, and become the focus of family life, no expense or inconvenience spared. ISTJs' homes and personal appearances tend to reflect their life preferences in general: traditional and probably somewhat austere. You can often spot an ISTJ's home from the outside: the yard is sparse -- the few bushes and plants are neat and orderly -- the house color is rather subdued, bikes and toys are put away, and the entire presentation can only be described as tasteful but reserved. A place for everything and everything in its place. (Right on!)

ISTJ Strengths

  • Honor their commitments
  • Take their relationship roles very seriously
  • Usually able to communicate what's on their minds with precision
  • Good listeners
  • Extremely good (albeit conservative) with money (BWAhahahahahahahahahahaa)
  • Able to take constructive criticism well
  • Able to tolerate conflict situations without emotional upheaval (Yeppers)
  • Able to dole out punishment or criticism when called for

ISTJ Weaknesses

  • Tendency to believe that they're always right (What? This is a problem?)
  • Tendency to get involved in "win-lose" conversations
  • Not naturally in-tune with what others are feeling
  • Their value for structure may seem rigid to others
  • Not likely to give enough praise or affirmation to their loved ones

So that's me!

Mental Funk

A friend of mind, "kindly" posted a video of someone jumping to their death on Facebook. I knew it would send me into a funk, but I couldn't stop myself from watching, hoping, wondering someone or something would stop this. After all who was standing their video taping this person's anguish? I can still see the guy climb up onto the railing and let himself fall into the sky.

I wonder how someone can get to the point where their life means absolutely nothing to them. It makes me wonder if there was anyone out there who was searching for him, wondering about him, panicking at the thought of him causing him physical pain.

Of course I'm kind of depressed for the rest of the evening, my heart is heavy as I know he's not the only one out there, but what can I, one small person in this great big universe do?

I can pray, and hope that if I every come across someone in the balances, that I will have the courage to step up and say something.

I can't imagine.......

March Goals

Spring is almost around the corner! I cannot wait! While it hasn't been all that cold lately, I sure am tired of wearing my boots, and resisted the urge to purchase some more sandals yesterday.

This month I'm printing my goals out and posting them "all" over my house. The biggest problem I have with setting goals, is forgetting about them, so we'll try this again. This may be one of those  that's more for me than it is for "you" so yeah. Do with it what you will.
:-)
Goals for 3/2011
  1. Purchase a Car. Yeah yeah.
  2. Put down my cell phone while driving. I've seen the last story I want to see about a teen/person dying because they were texting and driving.  I know I've had some close calls, which has caused me to put my phone down more often, but not often enough. I don't text and drive, but I do read texts, and emails, and surf the net while I'm driving, which isn't better i know,
  3. Stay within Budgeted Means.
    • Gas -my gas budget exceeded its amount by $40 this month! I knew it was a lot but that's kind of scary! Hopefully the purchase of a new vehicle will help this stay down...granted the extreme hike in gas prices over the last WEEK will have something to say about that I'm sure.  ($2.99 last Monday $3.28 today)
    • Buy Online - As in impulse shopper, buy online not only makes me stop and think about why/what I'm purchasing (as I'm watching the price get higher the more stuff I "add to shopping cart") but it also saves gas and time! {Alice.com, stockngo.com,samsclub.com}
    • Eat out ONCE a week - Started taking my lunches/snacks to work last month, which did help, I still went over my "fast food" budget by $6.
  4. Be more prepared. Procrastination yada yada.
  5. Review my 101 N 1001. Wait What? I know I forgot about it too.
Short list..I've learned the hard way its easier to start small and get bigger.

In the words of Bob the Builder: "Can we do it? YES WE CAN!?
Or was that Obama? I forget.
:)

Until I blog again,

Miscellany Monday #22111

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
{1} Meet my newest baby
Unless you've been in a hole or just really don't care about me and my life at all *sniffs* you've probably heard/seen photos of Rob. But just in case you didn't, here are a few. He's been a typical puppy, getting into EVERYTHING and despising being left alone. But other than that he's been a good boy, I even took him with me to baby-sit for a friend of mine. That was... an adventure... But between him and Bubbles I'm not getting much sleep. Going to bed between around 12AM (around meaning between the hours of 12am and 3am) getting up between 3-5AM and then getting up for work around 7AM is not. Cool. I literally want to cry right now just from sheer exhaustion.

{2} Car Shopping
This, my friends, has got to be one of the most boring-est, nerve wracking, stressful things I've ever shopped for in my entire 21 years. Well, honestly the hardest part is wanting a car that I can't afford at the moment. Even harder since my parents bought a new vehicle within days of selling the other. Green Eye'd monster did try to rear his head..I'll admit it but in retrospect I was driving their car for the last TWO years, so its only fair.
Anyway, over the last two weeks, my mode of transportation has varied from day to day Monday - Thursday I drove my parents new vehicle (yes I was surprised the let me drive it...all by myself no less!), Friday - Sunday my neighbor was out of town and let me use her vehicle, Today - Tomorrow I'm stuff with the Tank (aka THE VAN) then Wednesday - Saturday my roommate has let me use her car while she's out of town.
I'm extremely grateful to everyone loaning me their vehicles but I'm so ready to have my own car again.

Next week Lord? Does that sound good to you?

{3} School
I was going over my assignment schedule in math, when I realized Spring Break is only...TWO WEEKS AWAY!
One question I'm beginning to hate is the "How's school going" question. Well I'm going to answer this once and for all. ITS.NOT. I mean it is, or shall I say, its coming back. Now that life is back to what I call normal (aka running around like the chicken with..well you know) I can feel myself able to focus on my school work more. However coming back from the "major" slump I took the week before last is difficult. Especially in math. There is just so much homework that its  almost impossible to keep up with once you get behind.

I'll be extremely happy if I get a C+ in this class.

Oh and to whom it may concern..no I have NOT had to re-take a class.
Thanks.

...don't ask...

{4} Random Photos from my 365 Project
Amazingly I've only missed two days thus far! My sister was inducted into Phi Theta Kapp this past Sunday
Day 29: Robyn is inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

Family Portrait for my Mom's Birthday. It was freezing and my sister Kristen drug us all out there. Bubbles kept hopping up on us just as the shutter snapped so I finally just held her in my lap. We would have included Texas if had been anywhere around, but was off doing "whatever".
Day 21- Family Photo

{4}  Angry Bird Fans
Lastly I leave you with this video. Came across it on Delicious and thought it was super cute! Oh to have such an imagination and the ability to do something with it!!

Ten on Tuesday

Ten on Tuesday (64)

1. Do you decorate for Valentine’s day?
Normally no. But Target has some super cute decor this year, that has made me want to start! But my budget screamed at me to put down the cute heart shaped mixing bowl, walk away from the $2 word art. And finish shopping for that birthday/Christmas present for my friend.

2. Does your desktop have a picture or computer graphic? Is it organized?
