Is This Thing On?

Random photo of my strawberry lemonade @ O'Charley's
In the weeks since I last blogged, much has happened, but obviously not enough to make me sit down and write about it.  The truth is, now that I only have access to internet at work and school, I find having other "more important" things to do with my bits of internet time, than blogging.

I know.. I know, but such is life.

At the moment, I'm attempting to recover from the craziness that surrounds, our annual church camp-meeting. While it was a blast, the late nights (2-3AM) and bad nutritional choices I made (aka at least 1-2 soda's daily) are beginning to catch up with me.

Yesterday I got home from school, and slept for two hours, than turned around went to bed at 10:30PM. Today I woke up with a slightly sore throat, and runny nose.

Can I tell you guys something? I can deal with any other pain (sort of, kinda, not really) other than my throat. I hate, hate, hate sore throats.

In fact, its the only sickness that I will down all kinds of medication to make the pain go away. I've found out the hard way, you shouldn't eat cough drops like candy, and that if you don't aim those throat sprays right you can numb your tongue.. OH! And that they don't last very long.

So now I'm sitting at my desk, waiting impatiently for the clock to change from 4:32PM to 5:00pm, so I can get home and at least, feel the comfort of my home surrounding me.

Looks like Me + Water are going to get real close in the coming days.

Anyone got any tips for heading off colds/sore throats before they become major?

Internet..and Lack Thereof

So its been over a week since my parents picked up and moved their internet miles away from me.
I'm surviving.
Barely.

The first couple of days were the hardest, I spent hours playing Diner Dash, Angry Birds and Spider Solitaire simply because my computers were there and I didn't know what else to do.

Pathetic really.

Then I decided I would cook something new.
Except all my recipes where on the internet.

Then I decided I would start thinking of things for my room.
But there was no internet.

Than I remembered I needed to see when my library books were due.
Oh wait. No internet.

Add something to my calender?
No Internet

Check out a video link someone sent me..
No Internet.

I think you can see where this is going; I quickly found myself increasing frustrated at how much of my life was on the internet.

So I did the only thing one CAN do when they are in a situation like this.

Cleaned my house.

Scrubbed my bathroom from top to bottom, cleaned most of my kitchen, vacuumed, and than packed up my laptop and went to Panera.

How COULD my parents do this too me!?

In other news:
Yesterday was my birthday.
I was sick through it.
"Its my party and I can cry if I want too..."
However my dogs were super nice to me, and didn't chew up anything, have any accidents or annoy me while I rested.
I fact..all of them SLEPT while I did.
This may not seem like a big thing to most of you, but if you know Rob, you know he doesn't just "sleep" in the middle of the day, for hours, all by himself, without a crate.
So this was a blessing in disguise.

Today, I'm still not feeling the greatest but am throwing the worlds best Pizza party at my house, or my neighbors house..(depends on which one's cleaner) and living it up.
Until 11PM, then I'm going to bed, cause I've got to work football tomorrow.
Bah-Humbug.

However, I can't deny the overtime will be music to my bank account.

$$$$$$$$KA-CHING! $$$$$

School is going great, love all my classes yada yada.

Achiku

Sore Throat
Cough and Sneeze
Sinus Headache the beginnings of an infection
Misery
Humidifier
Lozenges
Prayer
No Sleep and Early Mornings
Voice is Gone
Feeling some better
Ugh.

Yeah, that probably broke all the rules of Hiaku..:)
However, I am glad to feel much better today, though that is all relative.  I was miserable yesterday, I had so much pressure on the right side of my face, my teeth were hurting. I really wanted to stay home from work, I probably should have stayed home, but alas money talks louder than pain sometimes.

Today, I'm just sneezing and...sneezing and coughing, and sneezing some more! Its to the point where I actually feel bad for coming into work and spreading my germs...(though I'm cleaning and disinfecting, and washing my hands...) But until last year, I never saw a cold as something to stay home for. If I can function without pain, there's no reason for me to stay home. Granted my previous jobs weren't ones you could call in sick for often, so we just had to tough it out most of time. Those were the days.

Here's to hoping that I'm cleared up by the weekend!!

A Visitor

Aunt Flo came for a visit today, and she was brutal; I actually got to work, and couldn't get out of the car to go downstairs. But my (extremely awesome) boss allowed me to go on home, and sleep it off. Except for one thing.. I couldn't get to sleep. So I suffered in a half dozed state for about three hours, before finally going to sleep.

I liken a visit from mother nature to her, jumping in my mouth, sliding down my throat completely with boxes and bags for her stay. Then she proceeds to clean out my stomach, and "decorate" by tying and nailing up her drapes and blinds to the sides of my stomach. She decides her bed will be on my back, and proceeds to set up shop there for a couple of hours. Who knows what else she's doing in there too make my life plain miserable.

All I know is, that it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for me to get comfortable, and that I am supremely glad, I decided to come home instead of "pushing through it" at work.

I've finally gotten to a place where I bear the pain in one position, when all of the sudden someone comes knocking at my door, awaking me from that blissful place. Thank you sister dear.

So far I've been able to drink some Mountain Dew, and have been able to keep it down...if only I could get too my bed, and actually get some rest. Why does this happen on the day before I have to go to work early the next morning?!?!

*sigh*

An Aching,

Life - 12/13/09

Written Sunday December 13, 2009
And now back to our regularly scheduled:  IHAVETOOMUCHTODOANDNOONETOVENTTOO.

I know you've all missed my regular rants about the lack of time I have, but it was time for a break. I call it the calm before the storm; cause this week, the work load DOUBLES!

Can ya just feel the excitement?!?

No, but once again we start the 4th and final graduation of the year, with not two, not three but FOUR families and dogs graduating!! This is something that we've instituted with the "change" that took place in October; we've also changed some of the ways that we will run our days, so hopefully our families will feel a little more relaxed as well.

Most of the time, when "our" families come to us, they are at the end of their rope, they have tried anything and everything, and are slipping away from hope. Its such a joy to see and hear the stories of just small successes just our week together brings.

Update December 17th: Day 2 of Graduation, and its going SO WELL!!! Since there are four families, and four trainers, I have my own "team" to work with, and they are just going along so well! I feel so proud and happy for them.
School: Still trying to get all the paperwork lined up for me to make it to school next semester. Its rediculous the amount of things they want!!!!!!

But we are close, I can feel. But with that decision to go back to school, I have to make some decisions about other thigns in my life; more on that later. When I actually make them lol.

In other news
  • I'm about 5/10ths of the way through my Christmas shopping, I'm really having to restrain myself to my budget...cause as much as I like to SAY i hate shopping.......i really like it. Like a little tooo much. And I have actually over bought, and am going to have to return some things tomorrow. But I found some really cute stuff!!! (For me as well)
  • Apparently my body doesn't like my head anymore, and is sending everything it possibly can to get rid of it. I was driving down the road today, and litterly couldn't see the road due to coughing/watering eyes/flowing mucus; I was seriously scared I would run off the road!!!  I'm starting to believe it had something to do with my fathers car, as everytime I re-entered it I would go into "fits". ITs AWFUL. Dear God. Please don't let this be a Sinus Infection. Thank you. Erin
  • My foster pup Victoria leaves me next week. #sob

East TN

If you ever had a desire to move to East TN, let me give you some words of wisdom.

DON'T

From the information I'm gathering, you will be sick for at least 1-3 years. So far the last two weeks have been, miserable, if you've ever had a sinus headache, then you know how horrible they are, then all the mucus just rattling around in my chest, as well as the constant blowing of my nose.....

Now I think I've almost exhausted my supply of snot, and am able to go around without a tissues, in my hand....I have noticed that some times of the day is worse than others...but its not as bad as it has been. And to think I've NEVER had any problems with allergies or etc...
*sob*

In Other news........
Um........
........yeah......

Oh! I know plan my day by talk shows.
  • Neil Bortz is on from 9 - 12
  • Rush Limbaugh from 12- 3
  • Phil Hendricks (local guy...wanna be comedian) from 3-6
  • Sean Hannity from 6-9
  • Mark Levin from 9-12
  • Neil Bortz from 12 -1
  • George Norry from 1 - until
Knowing that each of those shows.....well approximately last three hours, I start planning things to do around that. That way I know that when those shows are over, my time for whatever it is I planned is over. Kind of sad, but it works for me!

After I go through Tim's graduation, I think I'm going to start looking into volunteer opportunities, such as fostering etc.... Tim graduates in almost two weeks, so I think that'll give me plenty of time to come up with some ideas! ....I should just go back to volunteering for GDF.
I'm sure THAT will go over well.
