The weekend has barely started, but already some life changing questions/decisions have been made! I was honored to be able to take a small part into the engagement of my roommate Christina and her boyfriend fiance' (I can never remember which one it is) Dee.
Christina's Dad and I work in the same department, so when Dee came by the office to have "the talk" with him, as her dad passed my office and could.not. resist dropping some hints. I knew Dee was coming in town due to Christina's birthday being on Monday, and we we're going to camp over the weekend.
C's Dad: Don't post anything on Facebook or Twitter!
*I have SO GOT TO GET RID of that stereotype!
Me: Um...ok I wasn't planning on it!?
C's Dad: Well I mean you know he's going propose right?
*SAY WHAT? PROPOSE? WHAT!? WHAT!? WHAT!?
Me: Um..no...I didn't!
*OMG She can't get married yet? Aaaah - I was basically going into overload. Cause this is not a simple engagement nope. she has to move almost 600 miles away.
C's Dad: Well I shouldn't have said nothing, but Rebekah's been helping him plan it all week.
Me: Ooh...ook welll....
Cue Hyperventilation
So of I text Rebekah, and demand details, so she calls and we talk about it. The more of hear of the plan, the more I was impressed. I like Dee, he's the big brother, we tease with each other all.the.time. So my happiness for them, was seriously warring with my feelings of sadness.
Anyway the plan was this.
Wednesday night, Rebekah has to convince Christina to let her drive her to work the next morning. Something that was a little difficult due to the fact....well there was no need. Thankfully her parents stepped in and "needed" Rebekah's car.
Next step, Christina had several appointments that evening, so Rebekah had to get her to the location without Christina asking too many questions.
While this was going on Dee, snuck into town and had to get set up at a location...that I don't know how to really describe other than it was a field. He had a canopy, outdoor rug, tiki torches, an iron wrought table and chairs, sparkling water, he went out and bought brand new glasses and China. I mean like the real deal stuff. Ordered Ruby Tuesday's, had Fruit and Cheese with flowers everywhere. It was awesome.
It turned out beautifully, she had no.clue. None.
She said yes of course, and her family and I came down to congratulate and take some photos.
Now that's its all over, I can't be anything but happy for the two of them.

Um i say "camp" what you should read, is they are camping and I'm lounging at home, and driving up there tomorrow. Cause I'm lame like that. And I have three dogs. And one of those dogs does not handle strange situation without using his teeth. Um...not a situation I'm going to put myself in again. So when her father mentioned that Dee was "here" I didn't think anything of it. Had he left it at that, I would have been as in the dark, as Christina was. But nope, he had to drop the BOMB.
