You Want My Opinion?

This post isn't meant to start an argument but more to unload my brain. Again.

My Twitter feed has been blowing up about the North Carolina vote earlier this week, something I was a bit surprised at because no one in the news media really expected to pass. I honestly didn't know it was an issue considering the area I lived in. heh.

So here's the thing, no I do not support gay marriage. You already knew this because I've written about this before. To me its a moral issue, a sin issue, right and wrong, and I don't believe its right.

I believe sin is wrong. Whatever form it comes in, whether its lying, cheating, stealing, etc..etc..

Yeah, I'm one of "those" people.

However, this does not mean I will treat you as a sub-human simply because I don't agree with what you are doing.

I can't.

Because pride is also a sin, as is hatred.

Believe me, I am not the way I am simply because I am so good. Ohhh no no no no no no jean claude.

You didn't get the "Before God" me. I wasn't a nice person.

But I digress.

The purpose of this to say, that simply because I do not believe two women/two men should get married doesn't mean I hate them, or am ignorant etc..

It just means my opinion differs from yours. Theirs. Everyone's probably.

Here's the thing, what goes on behind closed doors is. None.of.my.business. And I like it stay that way. However, when you post videos, tweets, Facebook status, Google plus articles ...telling me I SHOULD agree with you or else be categorized as ignorant, hateful, close minded....

[and people say RELIGIOUS people are bad about forcing their religion. HA!]
{{and OH YEAH you can't BULLY someone into something}}

"He that is convinced against his will is of the same opinion still"

Then I have a right to express my opinion. And you have a right to respect it.

AND. If you ask me to vote on the issue, I also have a right to vote no.

Does that make me a bad horrible hateful person? No. It doesn't! :)

You know from a previous post, that I have had gay co-workers, gay clients, and *gasp* LIKED them. But that doesn't mean I HAVE to agree or support with what their doing.

Now that I've lost friends and followers...

I'll bid you good day.

In The News

There are few news stories that have affected me as deeply as the Rescue of the Chilean Miners this week. I vaguely remember hearing something about them back in August, but life gets in the way and you don’t think about these things, when they are in, what used to be, a third world country. Since I don’t have a television, I get most of my news from the radio or internet; when my phone was being blown up with tweets about miners being rescued I hurried to my computer and quickly googled it find out what was going on. Locally not much was said about the Chilean rescue until this week, so I was unaware of the major rescue operations going on!
By the time I found a video on YouTube, three miners (which I keep spelling minors) had been rescued from the shaft.

Now a word about the weirdness that is me, I have these fears: a fear of falling from a great height, (not a rollercoaster girl myself) and fear of small spaces with no way out. I was trapped in a bathroom at church one time, when I was smaller and it scarred me for life. So when I see my greatest fears played out in real life…..

2- At School: Speaking of school, I got all the required information turned into my Financial Aid office this afternoon. My FA "angel" wasn't there today, so I wasn't able to get an in-depth analysis of the information, so I'll mostly likely be dropping by or calling them periodically over the next couple of days, to make sure I stay the forefront of their minds!

3- At Work: Got a big photo shoot coming up, which I'm completely freaking out about! Don't have all the equipment I would LOVE to have to make it work, its hard when people expect you to come up with these great ideas, and schemes when you're flying as blind as they are! No Pressure.

5- Caffeine: I realized today (as my roommate laid a case of Dr.Pepper on the table) that its been three months since either one of us has brought caffiene into our home. That my friends is a major reason why I've been able to stay caffeiene free. ITs super hard if you have cans of it lying around. Now my sugar intake has gone up like a bazillion percent, but it doesn't do near what caffeiene does!

...Freak Out

On a daily basis, there are horrific accidents reported in the news. But never so close to me as this one. I could have been there.

According to the news today, a 14-year-old boy from Colorado fell off the pedestrian bridge at the Arena on UT's Campus last night.(Wednesday) This bridge is about thirty feet in the air and has chest high railings/walls on all sides.

According to my co-workers who were there at the time of the accident, said "child" jumped over the railing, apparently he thought there was ground on the other side....so he jumped.
Now two fractured arms later, he is realizing his mistake.

He is an extremely blessed little boy, as he could have landed in the middle of traffic instead of on the sidewalk.

I was pretty freaked out as I worked that same area tonight,(Thursday) I spent a lot of time trying think through why i was feeling freaked, and to calm my self down. But I kept thinking....

What if I had decided to work overtime LAST night
What if I had been the one to witness him go over the edge
What did the kid think once he realized there was no ground on the other side
What did his parents think as they watched their child plunge over the side
What if another child goes over the edge tonight
What if he had died?

All I can say is...Parents? Watch your kids..not matter what age.
ESPECIALLY when you are 3 stories up!
Cause I  can totally see my 13 year old brother doing something equally stupid.
